“Worst Hack Ever”: Twitter Accounts of Obama, Elon Musk, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West among others, Hacked!

Several high-profile people’s Twitter accounts were hacked on Wednesday, to solicit digital currency. It included the account of former U.S. President Barack Obama, Elon Musk, U.S. Presidential candidate Joe Bidden, Kim Kardashian, and rapper Kanye West among the others.
Twitter has reportedly started taking steps to prevent some verified accounts from publishing messaged altogether. However, the cause of this apparent breach of privacy has not been made public.
Apart from the above-mentioned Twitter handles, verified accounts of celebrities, journalists, news agencies, politicians, head of state, and emergency services were also hacked. However, it hasn’t been asserted if they were all affected by it. "This appears to be the worst hack of a major social media platform yet," said Dmitri Alperovitch, who co-founded CrowdStrike.
Twitter said in a statement that users “may be unable to tweet or resent your password while we review and address this incident.” They had also told Reuters that an investigation was taking place and that a statement will be issued shortly. However, no explanation has been released yet.
Michael Borohovski, director of software engineering at Synopsys said, "It is highly likely that the attackers were able to hack into the back end or service layer of the Twitter application.” "If the hackers do have access to the backend of Twitter, or direct database access, there is nothing potentially stopping them from pilfering data in addition to using this tweet-scam as a distraction," he added.
