Travellers at 3 US airports to be screened for deadly Coronavirus
Home > News Shots > World newsThe deadly Coronavirus is having everyone on their toes and the mighty United States is no exception. Three international US airports - Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York’s John F Kennedy – are screening passengers for the deadly virus, which can cause severe acute respiratory syndrome amongst other deadly outcomes. Passengers will be checked for fever and other symptoms besides being administered a questionnaire. Additionally, travellers who don’t immediately show the symptoms will be handed over contacts of persons to get in touch with, in case they do develop the symptoms, overtime, reports the Washington Post.
These airports have been handpicked since they receive most travellers from China’s Wuhan, the region where the Coronavirus has originated. China has so far reported 139 cases while three have died from respiratory illnesses.
India too is on high alert with passengers from China disembarking at airports in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata being screened through thermal scanners.
