Russia Announces Second COVID-19 Vaccine : ‘To begin Production by November’ – Details
Home > News Shots > World news As the number of coronavirus infections are constantly increasing to no end, the race for a potential vaccine is on-going. While Russia had already announced that one of its vaccine has completed clinical trials, it has now announced another.
According to reports from the Russian media, this other vaccine is expected to start mass production by November. Russia’s Vector State Research Centre of Virology and Biotechnology has produced this vaccine. Its Director General has confirmed the same.
“We expect to start production already in November this year. So, closer to the end of the year and the start of the next year we can talk about switching to vaccination at least for people form risk groups with a further switch to massive vaccination,” he told.
However, the Russian Health Minister had already announced that the vaccine that has been developed by the Gamaleya Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology has completed clinical trials and is being registered. Further, mass vaccination is said to begin with this vaccine as early as October.
Meanwhile Russia has reported over 8 Lakh cases and has also lost several lives to the viral infection.
