Unbelievable!!! A pigeon sold for more than a million in an auction
Home > News Shots > World newsThis news is sure to take you by shock where a star racing pigeon in Belgium named Armando was sold for $1.4 million in an auction. This is not just any common pigeon but the best long distance pigeon of all time in Belgium, and perhaps even worldwide.
Former breeder Joël Verschoot put Armando up for sale and said that he wasn't sure who would buy the bird in the first place.
The group that organised the sale during the weekend, is a pigeon site called PIPA (Pigeon Paradise) claimed that the pigeon is the “best Belgian long-distance pigeon of all time” with a record unmatched till date. PIPA further stated that Armando had been a prize-winning racer year after year. Not much as a surprise, a buyer from China bought it for $ 1.4 million stating that it was an "unprecedented" sale that jumped from around $ 600,000 to the final price in the last hours of the auction.
Speaking about Armando's laurels, the last races that he won were the 2018 Ace Pigeon championship, the 2019 Pigeon Olympiad, and the Angoulême.
There were many other birds long with Armando that was sold in the auction. Joel who sold Armando also sold 178 pigeons in the in the event.
