Pakistan to Host Maha Shivaratri; Hindu Devotees from Worldwide to Attend
Home > News Shots > World newsHundreds of Pakistani Hindu devotees will gather at Shiv Temple in Mansehra city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Province to celebrate the major festival ‘Maha Shivaratri'.
It is being learnt that a lot of people from the United Kingdom are also set to attend the festival.
“More than 1,500 Hindu devotees are expected to participate in the festival from all over Pakistan,” said Lingham Shiva Temple Chitti Ghatti Mansehra Priest Darshan Lal.
Lal said that the festival was first hosted 15 years ago with just 200 devotees with the list of participants growing each year.
“We have also invited the Hindus from around the world on the temple’s Facebook page and mentioned that Pakistan is a peaceful country where interfaith harmony is exemplary,” added Lal.
“I am finalising the arrangements for the Maha Shivaratri festival. As the numbers of devotees are increasing every year, we also need extra facilities including washrooms, langar khana (free food) accommodation,” he further added.
