Pakistan’s Prime Minister Tested for COVID19; Awaits Results
Home > News Shots > World newsThe Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, had to undertake test for COVID- 19 after he came in contact with a person who later tested positive for the virus. PM Imran Khan met Faisal Edhi, the Chairman of Edhi Foundation on April 15. Faisal Edhi handed over a donation cheque to the PM at Islamabad.
Photos shared from the meeting depict that both Faisal Edhi and PM Imran Khan were not wearing protective masks or gloves.
A few days later, Faisal tested positive for coronavirus and he has been under home quarantine at his residence in Islamabad since then. The Prime Minister has also been tested in order to check if he has been affected by the virus due to local transmission.
As per the report from India Today, doctors from Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital collected samples of the Prime Minister and the results are still awaited.
“I am happy to announce that the prime minister has agreed to get tested for coronavirus on my advice,” Dr. Faisal Sultan, CEO of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Pakistan’s authority on the COVID-19 outbreak, told India Today.
9749 positive cases of COVID- 19 have been reported across Pakistan and over 209 people have died due to the virus in the country as of 22nd April.
