The Malaysian government is considering a ban on Internet access for teens under 17 between 12 AM and 6 AM daily, Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Cye is reported to have told the Parliament on Monday after a Health and Morbidity studies conducted in 2017 indicated that around 34.9 per cent of Malaysian teens between the ages of 14 and 17 showed a 'prevalence towards Internet addiction'.
The Malaysian government is looking to address the issue of teen addiction to social media and online gaming, Lee told the Malaysian Parliament, according to a todayonline report.
The Deputy Health Minister also added that certain gaming providers are taking upon themselves to restrict users under 17 from accessing their games for a duration of one to two hours.
