Malaysia Detects New Clusters of ‘10 Times More Infectious’ COVID-19 Strain – Report!
Home > News Shots > World news As the world continues to fight against the novel coronavirus infection, Malaysia has detected a new strain of the virus that is supposedly 10 times more infectious.
A mutation of the new coronavirus, called D614G was found in three of the 45 cases in a new cluster. It was started from a restraint where the owner, upon returning to Malaysia from India, breached home quarantine. Similar strain was found in another cluster which involved people who had returned from the Philippines, reported Times of India.
“People need to be wary and take greater precautions because this strain has now been found in Malaysia. The people’s cooperation is very needed so that we can together break the chain of infection from any mutation,” wrote Noor Hisham, medic, on Facebook.
This mutation which is 10 times more infectious than the others is predominantly seen in US and Europe. However, the World Health Organisation has assured that there is no evidence to prove that this variant is more deadly than the others.
