US President Donald Trump on Tuesday told that more Americans might die while reopening the US economy but he insisted that this step has to be taken. He also refused to wear a mask while he was touring Honeywell, a mask- making factory in Phoenix, Arizona

When asked about the possibility of following social distancing norms after the reopening of the economy, he replied “it’s possible there will be some. Because you won’t be locked into an apartment or a house or whatever it is.”

"Will some people be affected badly? Yes," he admitted earlier at the factory. "But we have to get our country open,” he said.

According to a tally released by Johns Hopkins University on Tuesday, US coronavirus death toll has climbed by 2,333 in the last 24 hours. It is almost twice as many as the day before. Despite the alarming number of deaths, President Trump continues to advocate for the reopening of US Economy. Eased restrictions is predicted to be the reason behind the surge in number of cases.

Trump’s reelection campaign is also disrupted due to the massive shutdown.

While touring the factory, he praised the medical staff and other frontline workers.

However, he denied to wear masks even while touring the mask-making factory. Though White House medical experts and first lady, Melania Trump have promoted the usage of masks as a crucial tool in this battle against COVID19, the Trump administration seems to be skeptical about the usage of masks.

"I think wearing a face mask as I greet presidents, prime ministers, dictators, kings, queens, I don't know," he said in April, apparently suggesting a mask would be unpresidential. "Somehow, I don't see it for myself, NDTV cited in its report.

The Vice President, Mike Pence was caught in a controversy a week ago when he was photographed mask less during a visit to Mayo Clinic hospital. He later publicly admitted that he was wrong. In the subsequent trip, he wore a mask.

Media reports elucidated on a few polls that indicates that “Democrats support face covering as a sign of shared responsibility, while some Republicans see mask-wearing orders as a big government threat to individual liberty."
