Kobe Bryant and Daughter Death: How Long Will It Take to Recover the Bodies?
Home > News Shots > World newsToday, the world woke up to the sad news of the death of Basketball legend Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna. The pair perished alongside seven others when the copter they were travelling in crashed in Los Angeles, California. Authorities pin the blame on foggy weather conditions for the mishap.
Now, as per a report in The New York Times, authorities have said that it could be several days before the bodies of the dead are fished out since the crash site is of rough terrain and needs to be accessed by firefighters via a hike.
Sheriff Alex Villanueva of Los Angeles County said that even emergency workers found it difficult to access the site during daytime on Sunday. “We will be doing our work thoroughly, quickly and with the utmost compassion. We’re doing everything we can to confirm identifications and give closure to the families involved,” chief medical examiner for Los Angeles County, Dr Jonathan R Lucas said about recovering the mortal remains and handing them to the bereaved families.
Authorities are also looking into whether the helicopter was overcrowded. The other victims of the crash included John Altobelli, a long-time baseball coach at Orange Coast College, a junior college in Costa Mesa, California, as well as Altobelli’s wife, Keri, and daughter Alyssa, officials said.
