Latest on Kim Jong-Un's Health: Discussion about his Potential successor on as Satellite images raise Serious Doubts on his Well Being!
Home > News Shots > World newsRumours about the health of North Korean Leader Kim Jong- Un are doing the rounds on the internet. Most of the internet rumours claim that he is either brain dead or dead. Amid these claims, satellite images reviewed by a Washington- based North Korea monitoring project revealed that a special train that possibly belonged to the North Korean leader, was spotted.
According to the report, the train was parked at the “leadership station” (which is reserved for being used by the Kim Family) in Wonsan on 21 April and 23 April.
“The train’s presence does not prove the whereabouts of the North Korean leader or indicate anything about his health but it does lend weight to reports that Kim is staying at an elite area on the country’s eastern coast,” the report said.
The speculations and conjectures around Kim Jong-Un intensified after he failed to make an appearance at North Korea’s Military Foundation Day (a national holiday) on Saturday. The speculations about his health started coming to the fore when he failed to attend the birth anniversary of his grandfather, Kim II- Sung, North Korea’s founding father on 15 April.
Reuters quoted a report from the Newsweek which claimed that US intelligence has not seen any sign of unusual activity but continues to monitor the situation closely.
Kim Jong-Un appeared in North Korean state media reports on April 11 and hasn’t appeared in the reports since then.
“China has dispatched a team including medical experts to North Korea to advise on Kim, according to three people familiar with the situation”, Reuters cited in its report on the subject.
North Korean leader Kim Jong- Un is a third-generation hereditary leader who took over the regime in 2011 after the death of his father. A clear successor for Kim Jong- un has not been named yet. This is being seen as a threat globally since North Korea is a nuclear-armed country.
Global media is now also paying attention to Kim’s sister. Kim Yo- Jong, senior ruling party official, is being cited as the potential successor by political spectators and experts. She recently came across as a powerful force within the regime. Nevertheless, some still have their reservations about the possibility of a woman leader being accepted as the supreme leader in a country that is still patriarchal.
“She has frequently appeared with her brother at public activities, standing out among elderly male officials. She accompanied Kim Jong- Un on his high-stake summits with US President Donald Trump and other world leaders in recent years. Her proximity to him during those summits led many outsiders to believe she's essentially North Korea's No. 2 official”, The Week mentioned in one of its reports.
Official information on this subject is awaited as rumours about the leader’s health continue to persist.
