Johnson & Johnson Claims To Have COVID-19 Vaccine; Plans To Begin Human Trail!
Home > News Shots > World newsRenowned pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson, is all set to begin human clinical trials of its COVID-19 vaccine. This isn't the only company working to create a vaccine for the pandemic which is spreading like wildfire.
According to a division of the Department of Health and Human Services, Johnson & Johnson says it has been working on a vaccine since January. They are also partnering with the Biomedical Advance Research and Development Authority (BARDA) for this vaccine. Both the companies will commit $1 billion to fund vaccine research, development and clinical testing, as per a Reuters report.
The trial will only take place by September, the company announcement came on Monday. "The world is facing an urgent public health crisis and we are committed to doing our part to make a COVID-19 vaccine available and affordable globally as quickly as possible," Johnson & Johnson Chairman and CEO Alex Gorsky said.
The company is also expanding its global manufacturing capacity so it can quickly produce the vaccine after being approved. Meanwhile, renowned US biotech firm Moderna, has shipped its vaccine to government researchers for testing in February, according to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
