Man uninterested in real women gets married to hologram
Home > World newsA 35-year-old Japanese man got the world talking after he recently married a virtual reality singer named Hatsune Miku. Akihiko Kondo spent two million yen ($17,600) on a formal ceremony for his wedding at a Tokyo hall.
Sadly none of his relatives, including his own mother came to see him tie the knot with Miku - who was present in the form of a stuffed doll. Kondo has reportedly been living with a talking, moving hologram of Miku on his $2,800 desktop device since March. According to Kondo, Miku saved his life.
Kondo, though happy to be friends with 3-D women, has no interest in pursuing a romance with them. "Two-dimensional characters can't cheat, age or die. I'm not seeking these in real women. It's impossible," says Kondo.
Kondo believes that diversity in society is necessary. He adds, "It won't necessarily make you happy to be bound to the 'template' of happiness in which a man and woman marry and bear children. I believe we must consider all kinds of love and all kinds of happiness."
