As a sigh of relief to foreign nationals, the Government of India has relaxed visa and travel restrictions for certain categories to allow them to travel to India amid coronavirus outbreak.

The government in a press release said, foreign healthcare professionals, health researchers, engineers and technicians for technical work at Indian health sector facilities, including laboratories and factories are allowed to come. 

Highlighting about other categories who are allowed; people engaged in business who want to visit India in a non-scheduled airline or chartered flight; health researchers and technicians to work with Indian health sector facilities, including laboratories and factories; managerial, design or other specialists coming to India on behalf of a foreign firm located in India.

Even technical specialists who want to visit India for installation, repair and maintenance can come if they have an invitation from a registered Indian firm.

Meanwhile, even health researchers and technicians who would like to visit India must have a letter of invitation from a recognised healthcare facility, a registered pharmaceutical firm or an accredited university in India, the Home Ministry said.

While, foreign nationals, who hold a valid long term multiple entry Business visa, other than B-3 visa for sports, issued by the Indian Missions and Posts abroad would have to get the Business visa re-validated from the Indian Mission/ Post concerned, the release stated.
