Fishing Boat Caught 'Fire'; Nearby Schools Closed and 'Explosion' Risk Found!
Home > News Shots > World newsIn a shocking incident, a Russian boat in Norway's port of Tromso caught fire on Wednesday (September 25) and reportedly it was at the risk of exploding. The fire and rescue department were called and nearby schools surrounding the 300-metre area were closed to clear the threat. As per BBC report, actual reasons for the fire were not found.
While all the 29 crew members were evacuated from the Bukhta Nayezdnik boat, two people were receiving treatment for smoke inhalation. One of the major explosion risks was a large amount of diesel fuel (200 cubic meters) inside the vessel. It was said that Norway's water transport agency had told state media regarding the measures that were taken to minimise the risk of any fuel leakage.
Further, Emergency services were working on full swing to stop the explosion by cooling a vast tank of ammonia inside the boat. In fact, ammonia is the gas that could cause skin burns and is extremely dangerous to inhale. Some of the alarming pictures of the boat letting out humongous smoke out of the fire were released by BBC. The pictures revealed the day-long work by the rescue team to put down the fire and bring the situation under control.
