The Russian scientists on Sunday confirmed that the clinical trials of a COVID-19 vaccine developed at the Sechenov University was completed. On Monday, they conformed the arrival date of the vaccine.

According to the report, the vaccine is going to be launched as soon as next month. The Gamalei Centre’s director Alexander Gintsburg told that the vaccine will ‘enter civil circulation’ on August 12 or 14. Adding to it, he also confirmed that the mass production may begin by September, reported The Moscow Times.

“The research has been completed and it proved that the vaccine is safe,” told Smolyarchuk, Chief researcher at the University to TASS.

The Moscow Times reported that the volunteers who were injected with the vaccine developed headaches, elevated body temperatures, and other typical responses. However, these symptoms were resolved within the first 24 hours.

The participants of this trial were aged between 18 and 65. They will be monitored for another 6 months before being released. The volunteers are also likely to be discharged after 28 days in isolation, in order to protect them from being exposed to other infections.

It is to be noted that the first stage of vaccine trial was launched on June 18 and the second on June 23.
