Disturbing Video: Elephant With Lights Attached To Head Trample Crowd In Parade

In a shocking case, at least 18 people were injured after an elephant who took part in a Buddhist pageant in Sri Lanka got angry and charged at performers and common public.

The video went live on Derana Television in Kotte, where the elephant can be seen suddenly running forward into the crowd.

The onlookers were shocked and can be seen running for their lives. While the elephant who became violent ran, pushing onlookers on the open street. The man who was riding on the elephant feel off it and thankfully escaped being trampled.

Minutes after the incident, officials from two hospitals ran to the spot and rushed for help. They confirmed that 18 injured people received treatment and 16 had been discharged. Of the remaining two, one is being observed for possible abdominal damage and the other is being treated for an injured ear.

These decorated elephants are a major attraction in Sri Lankan Buddhist pageants. Many keep captive elephants as pride too.
