A powerful earthquake of 7.4 magnitude shook Mexico on Tuesday. Around 5 people have been killed in the city while thousands waited in the streets for hours after collateral damage.

Mexico’s President said that one person died in a building collapse, another in an apparent house collapse. The Federal civil defence authorities have confirmed the death of 2 more people; one who fell from a refinery structure and the other upon whom a wall fell.

140 aftershocks were felt by the residents.

A fire was caused by the quake, various buildings had minor damages; while some collapsed. People were warned for both a possible earthquake and Tsunami. The city had to fight a natural calamity during the time of a pandemic. Residents stood in close proximity on streets and sidewalks; wearing masks.

Hospitals had to be evacuated and patients were calmed by doctors in PPE.

Previously, the U.S. Geological Survey seismologist, Paul Earle said, “This has the potential to be a deadly earthquake and cause significant damage. This area is capable of and has had larger earthquakes in the past.” “There will be aftershocks. It is not expected to see a magnitude 6 at this point and a number of smaller ones,” Earle added.
