VIDEO: Strongest Earthquake Hit Croatia Amid COVID-19 Lockdown In City
Home > News Shots > World newsIn a shocking case, a strong earthquake hit Croatia on Sunday (March 22) which caused panic across the country. The earthquake rocked the capital city Zagreb and caused widespread damage of buildings including the parliament, leaving cars crushed to the ground. People were also forced to evacuate from hospitals.
The earthquake is said to be the strongest with 5.3-magnitude that affected the city in 140 years. As per a BBC report, a teenager is said to be in a critical condition after a roof collapsed. Soon after the city felt its tremors, Zagreb's mayor requested people to return to their homes amid the fear of the deadly coronavirus.
Other than the teenager, another sixteen people were also injured in the mishap. The incident took place around 06:00 local time that forced the panicked residents to run out into the streets.
"Keep your distance. Don't gather together. We are facing two serious crises, the earthquake and the epidemic," Interior Minister Davor Bozinovic said, BBC further reported.
