Donald Trump has presented a cricket bat and a picture of former US president Dwight Eisenhower to Imran Khan during their meeting in the White House on Monday.

Imran Khan is in the United States for a three-day trip. This is the first time Khan is visiting Pakistan and there were no US administrative officials present at the airport to welcome him. The issue of Khan not being welcomed properly started doing rounds on social media. Later, during a meeting, one of the journalists asked Trump if he would like to visit Pakistan, to which he said he would definitely accept if an invitation is extended. However at a press conference on Tuesday, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Donald Trump has accepted an invitation by Imran Khan to visit Pakistan.

The two leaders reportedly discussed the situation in Afghanistan and the cancellation of US aid to Pakistan.

In 2018, US cut financial aid to Pakistan because the latter was not taking any action against terrorist groups acting from its soil.

Donald Trump has recently claimed that during one of their meetings Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wanted him to act as a mediator between India and Pakistan on the Kashmir issue. The Indian External Affairs Ministry has denied any such requesting.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan said that he has asked Trump to play the mediator. A report by the New Indian Express quotes Imran Khan saying, “ The US is the only country which could mediate between India and Pakistan and resolve the Kashmir issue. I really feel that India should come on the table.”
