Divorce Rate Up in China After Couples Spend too much Time Together During Home Quarantine!

Home quarantine in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic in China has resulted in a spike in divorce rate, if reports are to be believed.

Register offices in the country witnessed a rise in divorce applications since February 24. The centre in Dazhou, Sichuan Province in south-west China recorded over 300 divorce applications. According to a report by The Week, the officers believe that the reason for the sudden spike was because "couples were spending too much time together at home."

While many attribute the sudden spike to couples spending too much time together, a few also believe that this could be because of delayed applications as council offices in the country remained closed for nearly a month when the disease outbreak was at its peak.

However, over the past couple of weeks, there has been a drastic reduction in the number of cases in China. Europe is now the epicentre of the virus with Italy being the most affected.
