Coronavirus: Trump suggests idea of injecting disinfectant in body, Dettol warns DON’T
Home > News Shots > World newsEarlier, American President Donald Trump came in for much criticism after suggesting that people inject disinfectant into their body in a bid to fight Coronavirus, without basing it on any scientific evidence. This prompted Dettol and Lizol maker Reckitt Benckiser to issue a statement that said, "Under no circumstance should our disinfectant products be administered into the human body (through injection, ingestion or any other route)."
“As with all products, our disinfectant and hygiene products should only be used as intended and in line with usage guidelines,” it added.
Meanwhile, a US study says that Coronavirus dies fastest under light, warm and humid conditions. Coronavirus doesn’t last on door handles and nonporous surfaces when it’s exposed to sunlight, higher temperatures and humidity, according to the US government study.
“The virus is dying at a much more rapid pace” from exposure to humidity or heat, Bill Bryan, an undersecretary at the Homeland Security Department, said at a White House news conference.
Coronavirus has claimed the lives of more than 49,000 in the US with more than 870,000 infections.
