Global Death Toll Crosses 300000 With Over 4.4 Million Cases of Infection; Data Here From Countries!
Home > News Shots > World newsThe global death toll due the deadly coronavirus infection has crossed 300,000-mark with over 4.42 million cases of infections, as per Johns Hopkins University data.
Among most of the countries, the United States is currently leading the world with the highest 1,416,528 cases and 85,581 fatalities. Meanwhile, the actual death toll is believed to be far higher than the tally compiled from government figures.
This whooping number comes a day after, the World Health Organisation (WHO) official, Michael J Ryan said the coronavirus may become another endemic like HIV infection and may never go away.
"This virus just may become another endemic virus in our communities and this virus may never go away. HIV has not gone away. I think it's important to put this on the table: this virus may become just another endemic virus in our communities and this virus may never go away," Dr Ryan, executive director of the WHO health emergencies program was quoted as saying by CNN.
As every other country is struggling and fighting to deal with COVID-19, hundreds of scientist are working to create a vaccine to treat the deadly contagion which has brought the world to a standstill.
Looking at the cases and death in India, the coronavirus cases count had crossed 78,000 yesterday with 3,722 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. Amid the rise in cases, there are nearly 26,235 persons who have been cured and 2,549 people have died.
Below are few countries with a high cases of Covid-19 deaths in the world:
- United States: As per the Johns Hopkins University’s data, the country has reported more than 80,000 Covid-19 fatalities which is the highest in the world.
- United Kingdom: More than 32,000 people have died in the United Kingdom so far, with over 2.24 lakh cases of coronavirus have been reported.
- Italy: This country has the third-highest number of Covid-19 deaths in the world. More than 30,000 people have been killed due to the deadly infection with more than 2.19 lakh coronavirus cases.
- Spain: This reports the second-highest number of coronavirus cases in the world with over 2.27 lakh people being infected. With recent stats, nearly 27,000 people in Spain have died due to coronavirus.
- France: So far France has witnessed over 26,000 coronavirus deaths till date with over 1.7 lakh total coronavirus cases.
