The Neumünster Zoo in Germany might resort to the extreme measure of feeding its own animals to each other due to shortage of supply. The Coronavirus outbreak has disrupted their supply chains and caused a steep fall in revenue.

The financial situation is only expected to worsen due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Hence, the Zoo, in an attempt to come up with realistic solutions have planned to slaughter some of its zoo animals in order to feed the rest of the animals.

According to a report from Deutsche Press Agentur (German news agency), the zoo is home to more than 700 animals and more than 100 species. The report also states that the list of animals that are to be slaughtered is unclear at this point. However, a 12 feet tall polar bear named Vitus will be the last one to go.

" This is really the worst, worst case of all -- if I no longer have any money to buy feed, or if it should happen that my feed supplier is no longer able to supply due to new restrictions, then I would slaughter animals to feed other animals," Verena Kaspari, Zoo Director told the news agency.
