China Responds to Modi's Letter on Coronavirus Attack
Home > News Shots > World newsIndian prime minister Narendra Modi sent a letter to Chinese president Xi Jinping offering India's support to tackle the novel coronavirus. As per NDTV report, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang responded to PM Modi's gesture.
"We thank and appreciate India's support for China's fight against the NCP Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia, the official name for coronavirus," Geng was quoted in the NDTV report.
"India's acts of goodwill fully demonstrate its friendship with China," added Geng.
In his letter, Modi expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government for facilitating the evacuation of over 600 Indians stranded in Wuhan. He also offered his condolences to the lives lost due to the virus.
According to the latest reports, the coronavirus outbreak has killed over 900 people and more than 40,000 people have been affected in China alone.
