Poaching is a serious criminal offence across the globe. However, the legal provisions don't stop poachers from engaging in such activities.

Recently, a heartbreaking image of an injured baby white rhino lying next to her dead mother has left people teary-eyed. The young one can be seen with a hunter's dart stuck on its back, lying next to his dead mother, who was killed for her horn.

The injured calf and his mother were victims of poaching at South Africa's Kruger National Park. The baby rhino, identified as Arthur, was spared by poachers because he was too young to develop his horn. Arthur's story went viral when a Facebook page put up his story online.

The injured baby rhino was rescued by rangers and taken to the Care For Wild Rhino Orphanage. "His wounds included a cut to the toe nail, splitting the nail down the nail bed, and a 4-inch machete gash on his back."

The baby rhino, who has been given the name 'Arthur The Brave', is on the road to recovery. According to reports, the calf's physical wounds are gradually healing, but the baby still calls out for his mother. Volunteers at the orphanage describe the call as 'a heart-wrenching  sound'.

The orphanage is now raising money to help the calf with a campaign called 'Arthur's Army'. They have pledged £1,600 a month for his treatment and care. All the money raised will be used for Arthur's rehabilitation, and that of any other orphans living in the sanctuary.
