Are we close to finding a Cure for COVID19? Report
Home > News Shots > World newsHow close are we to finding a cure for the novel coronavirus? Many countries have stepped forward with claims that they have made a breakthrough or significant discovery.
A vaccine developed by Chinese pharmaceutical company is already being manufactured in a huge scale and is in the second phase of human trial. Chinese news agencies claimed that to be the first COVID19 Vaccine.
On May 4, Italy too claimed that it has developed the first vaccine to cure the novel coronavirus. A biotechnology company based in Rome, succeeded in isolating antibodies that work on human cells. The tests were held at Rome’s infectious- disease Spallanzani Hospital. The company claimed that this is the first drug that could successfully neutralize coronavirus in human cells.
On May 5 Israel claimed that it has developed a vaccine against COVID19. This was developed by Israel Institute for Biological Research (IIBR), a military’s medical research wing. According to India Today’s report the lab directly reports to the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office. The Israeli Prime Minister told that it was a “significant breakthrough.” They said, now that they have discovered the antibody, it will be patented and mass produced.
Experts deem Israel’s claims to be more transparent and stronger than the other two since it was backed by another independent research whose findings match with Israel’s claims about the vaccine.
A study published on May 4 by Nature stated that human monoclonal antibodies could prevent coronavirus from infecting new cells in the human body.
One could say that we are getting closer to finding a cure to the novel coronavirus and might step into the mass production and human trials phase shortly.
