In a shocking case, a Malaysian teenager alledegly killed herself after posting a poll on her Instagram account asking followers if she should live or die. Following her suicide, the case has sparked calls for a probe and families on alert. Currently, the Malaysian police have categorised the case as "sudden death".

According to NDTV reports, the 16-year-old girl, hailing from Kuching in eastern Sarawak, posted the poll on the Facebook-owned picture-sharing platform on Monday. As per a report on the news portal Astro Awani, the girl wrote, "Really Important, Help Me Choose D/L". The alphabets "D" and "L" apparently stood for death and life. Shockingly, 69 percent respondents voted in favour of her ending her life.

Meanwhile, Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq took to Twitter to express concerns about the state of mental health of youngsters in the Asian country. "It's a national issue which must be taken seriously. A national discussion must take place," he said.

According to Independent reports, Sarawak Police chief Aidil Bolhassan said the girl was found dead at the bottom of a building in the city of Kuching, on the island of Borneo. The girl had apparently been suffering from depression. She also posted a message on Facebook which said, “WANNA QUIT F***ING LIFE I’M TIRED.”

"She appeared to have jumped to her death from the third floor of a shopping centre," Bolhassan added.
