15 Killed, More Than 50 Injured After Two Trains Collide
Home > News Shots > World newsIn a shocking case, at least 15 people were killed and more than 50 people have been injured after two trains collided in eastern Bangladesh on Tuesday morning.
In the collision, three coaches which were badly affected were sent tumbling off the tracks. The incident took place at Mondolbhag station in the town of Kasba.
According to Washington Post report, a Dhaka-bound intercity train and a locomotive bound for Chittagong collided. Due to this accident, the train services out of Dhaka has been halted.
After the accident, a local police chief Anisur Rahman told AFP that "at least 15 people have been killed. And another 58 were injured. We have sent the injured to different hospitals in the region."
Meanwhile, a railway official told reporters that "We are still conducting a rescue operation. Also, faulty signalling could have been to blame."
Media reports state that, such train accidents are common in Bangladesh which are actually caused by due to poor signalling.
