According to reports, fourteen members of the same family were killed on Monday in a car crash in central Vietnam. The family was en route to a wedding party when their van hit a container truck. The deceased include the groom who died on the spot.

Police reportedly said that the victims of Monday's car crash in Quang Nam were members of an extended family, including the groom. Reportedly, they were heading to the bride's family home in a neighbouring province.

Their 16-seater van collided with a container truck at around 2:30 am local time, killing 13 people on the spot. Another died later in hospital. The bodies of the deceased were brought back to home for burial, while the injured are being treated at a hospital.

Local authorities said they were investigating the cause of the fatal crash Monday. Road accidents are the leading cause of deaths in Vietnam, where traffic laws are loosely obeyed and road infrastructure is patchy.
