In a recent announcement, YouTube said that more than 100,000 videos and 17,000+ channels have been removed from the video site owing to the violation of hate speech policies. The removal happened between April and June 2019 and the numbers are unbelievably 5 times higher than the first three months of this year. Additionally, 500 million comments have also been removed from the world's biggest video marketing site.

The breaking decision has been taken by YouTube against the hate speeches relating to religion, caste, gender and colour. In a detailed statement, Google states that "It is not easy to be open-hearted. Sometimes it hurts people or becomes controversial. Therefore only the consolidation of collective thoughts can make a society stronger, though we do not agree to some of the thoughts"

Overall, YouTube has removed more than 9 million videos and more than 4 million channels in the second quarter of this year. Statistically, 66% of the videos along with 90% of channels were removed for spreading spam or misleading content and 1.2% of videos along with 0.4% of channels were removed for hate speech violations. In fact, 80% of videos that violated YouTube policies were removed before receiving a single view itself.
