WhatsApp Reduces Time Limit of Video Statuses!
Home > News Shots > Technology newsAfter video streaming platforms such as Netflix, Amazon, Hotstar etc..., rolled down high definition (HD) and ultra-high definition (UHD) options while playing on smartphones, instant messaging platform WhatsApp has reduced the time limit of video statuses from 30 seconds to 15 seconds.
Now, if you try to upload a video longer than 15 seconds in length, WhatsApp will show a prompt that says “Videos sent to My Status will be trimmed to the first 15 seconds.” However, the message is a bit confusing. Instead of automatic trimming, the app allows users to specify any 15-second section of a video by sliding a rectangular seek box.
According to a report by NDTV, the change has been implemented only in India. WhatsApp is yet to make an official announcement or release a press note regarding the change.
The change is seen as an effort to reduce traffic on server infrastructure as the country’s internet consumption witnessed a huge surge after the lockdown announcement.
