The New Play Station 5 Design Revealed; Chief Executive says it’s a Paradigm Shift! – Details Here
Home > News Shots > Technology newsThe Play Station 5, was unveiled by Sony via an online event. The design and a few features have come to light since the commencement of the event.
Just like the Xbox series X, Sony has designed the PS4 to stand vertically. This edition will be available without the 4k Blu-ray disc drive. The PS5 is much sleeker, aesthetic, and fancy; with protruding wings at the top.
PS Chief Executive, Jim Rayan said, “We think 3D audio is a paradigm shift. We think the functionality of the new controller, which again has to be experienced to be fully appreciated, is a paradigm shift. We think the the SSD [solid state drive] storage mechanism, and the way that it can actually help you move between worlds in games and eliminate loading times is a paradigm shift.”
“You know, we went to great lengths to show that off with considerable length in The Ratchet and Clank demo. You saw the way that Ratchet was moving from world to world. On previous generations, the character would have needed to walk down a corridor while loading was going on in the background. Now it just happens instantaneously,” he added.
“I know previous generations have tended to be about better graphics, you know, greater grunt in the CPU [central processing unit]. But we think that we've got a number of features here that are going to enhance the sensory experience of the game and allow developers to do really cool and different things,” Rayan said.
“The PS5 gameplay experience will be the same, so the choice is all yours. While there are some slight differences in the look of each model, for the overall design, we wanted to deliver a console that's bold, stunning, and unlike any previous generation of PlayStation,” Sony said. The price range for this new model is yet to surface.
The launch date will be sometime later this year, and it will be announced world-wide, Sony added.
