Part of the Chandrayaan 2 mission, the Vikram lander, has been located on the Lunar Surface, says Indian Space Research Organisation chairman K. Sivan on Sunday, reports The Hindu.

"We have located Lander ‘Vikram’ on lunar surface. It must have been a hard landing," said Sivan. Though it has been located, ISRO is yet to establish contact with the lander.

ISRO lost communications with Vikram which housed rover Pragyan inside when it was minutes away from landing softly on the south pole of the lunar surface.

The lander was located with the help of the Chandrayaan-2 orbiter which is revolving around the Moon. ISRO is planning to investigate what triggered the communication loss.
