Home > News Shots > Technology newsRefrigeration and AC manufacturers said on Monday that it is safe to use air conditioners during the COVID19 Pandemic and clarified that ACs do not cause the spread of coronavirus.
The Refrigeration and AC Manufacturers Associations (RAMA) responded to the ongoing debate around usage of Room AC at home and in public spaces during the pandemic. They confirmed that these do not cause the spread of the virus and iit is completely safe to use. They also recommended few additional precautions to be followed to ensure safety.
According to CNN News 18’s report, they have joined hands with the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) for implementing air conditioning and ventilation guidelines in residential and commercial places.
They have recommended the temperature of room ACs to be kept between 24- 30 degree. 24 for humid climate and 30 for dryers.
The statement released by them also advices to "ventilate the room adequately by slightly keeping the window open during running with the exhaust fan running in the adjacent bathroom if possible and by keeping doors and windows open when AC is not operated."
They also suggest to increase the frequency of filter cleaning.
Both the organizations (RAMA and ISHRAE) planned to run a nationwide awareness campaign for air conditioning and ventilation guidelines that would help in optimizing its usage in residential, commercial and hospital buildings in order to prevent the spread of COVID19.
