106 vehicles seized by the Salem Municipal Prohibition Police and 127 vehicles seized by the Salem District Prohibition Police were put up for sale at the auction. Hundreds of people attended the auction to buy these vehicles.

Sumathi tearfully pleaded with those present not to let anyone bid on a two-wheeler that was to be put up for auction. Her statement that it was her father's vehicle and that she wanted the vehicle in his memory, shocked those present at the spot.

After that, when Sumathi's father's vehicle came up for auction, she paid Rs. 5,500 and bought it.
