Leopard cub mistaken for a kitten - found at private tea estate in Nilgiris!
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsThe incident where a kitten near the Nilgiris thought and lifted a leopard cub has caused shock.
Workers at a private tea plantation in the Pulampatti area near Kudalur in the Nilgiris district are working as usual. Then something heard a noise between the tea plants. The workers who went there immediately saw a baby leopard cub that had been born for a few days lying among the plants.
Seeing this, they thought it was a kitten and took it home. Later bystanders said it was a leopard cub, not a kitten. The forest department was immediately informed. Foresters rushed to the spot and rescued the cub and left it there.
Forest officials said the mother leopard may have gone in search of prey. It is likely that the cub was left in a safe place for that. So that the cub is left back in the same area where it was taken. Four forest officials are monitoring it. Hopefully the mother leopard will carry the cub. Until then, forest officials have said security will be on duty in the area.
