Pink Lake

The lake, located in the Chennai metropolitan area, has now turned pink. Thus travelers passing through this place are eager to take a photo of Pink Lake. Indumati, a professor at IIT Chennai, has studied the color of the lake.

It is said that methane is formed when compost is produced with less oxygen in swamps. Environmentalists say that cyanobacteria will then turn to methane and grow rapidly, turning water bodies pink.

Cyanobacteria

Environmentalist Nithyanan Jayaraman, who spoke about the pink lake's pink color, said, "When we dump cyanobacteria in polluted swamps, we produce less oxygen-rich fertilizer, which in turn promotes the growth of methane-absorbing cyanobacteria."

As cyanobacteria grow in the water, the algae will spread and reduce the amount of oxygen in the water. Environmentalists have warned that this could pose a serious threat to aquatic life, including plants and fish. Environmentalists have advised the public not to use Lake Perungudi as it has changed color.

Fire accident

The state-owned landfill is located in the Chennai suburbs. An unexpected fire broke out at the 225-acre landfill last Wednesday (27.04.2022). More than 100 firefighters put out the blaze. In this case, the pink color of the lake in the same area has shocked the people of the area.
