Chennai local train derails at Beach station - reason revealed!

Last Sunday, an electric train from the railway station to Chengalpattu arrived at the first platform of the beach railway station. The train then lost control of the driver and crashed into a barrier, climbed onto the platform and crashed into the wall of the shop near the platform. The driver immediately jumped out of the engine compartment and survived.
Railway officials rushed to the spot and expedited the rescue operation. Railway police said the train driver was slightly injured and no passengers were in any danger.
The accident caused a stir at the railway station. Thus the train service was affected for some time. Immediately after this the trains were operated as usual from the alternate platform. The electric train in the accident had a total of 12 compartments, including the engine. Of these, 10 compartments were immediately disassembled and disposed of, and the engine compartment that crashed into the walkway was disposed of at 6 p.m.
Chennai Egmore Railway Police have registered a case following a complaint lodged by Coastal Railway Station Superintendent Durga Ram. Following this, the Egmore Railway Police have registered a case against the driver Pavithran and are conducting an investigation.
A series of inquiries into the driver's whereabouts revealed that the accident was caused by pressing the accelerator instead of holding the brake. Following this, the Railway Police said that action will be taken against the driver Pavithran following the investigation report of the Railway Department.
