Tamil Nadu Reports Biggest One-Day Rise, 3 Cities Tops The List: Details Listed!
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsAs India recorded more than 2,500 positive cases in the country, Tamil Nadu reported 102 confirmed cases today. This was the third consecutive day, where Tamil Nadu reported massive rise that has taken the tally to 411 in the state.
Among most of the cities in Tamil Nadu, Chennai tops the list with the highest number of cases as 81 people in the city tested positive today, while Dindugal comes second in line with 43 cases and Tirunelveli with 36.
As per an Economic Times report, The Tamil Nadu Health Secretary Dr Beela Rajesh said that 100 of the 102 people who tested positive in the state were linked to a religious congregation that was held in Delhi's Nizamuddin area last month.
While addressing the media earlier in the day, she said,"Tamil Nadu is in stage 2 of the virus spread. We tested 376 samples of people with acute respiratory infection. Only three of them tested positive."
"Even if there is one positive case, a buffer zone is created and door to door surveillance is done. Around 5 lakh people were being covered under this process," she added.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu reported 75 new cases on Thursday after the highest jump in positive cases on Wednesday where 110 people tested positive.
