TN man kills wife during fight for sharing liquor – Report!

As the lockdown restrictions are getting eased by the day, liquor stores in various districts of Tamil Nadu have opened. Meanwhile, a couple got into a major dispute after purchasing alcohol, which resulted in one of them murdering the other.

Manikkam (62) and Pazhanal (57) were a married couple who resided in the New Colony, near Pollachi. Both of them had the habit of consuming alcohol. The police have reported that on the day of the incident, Manikkam had purchased alcohol from the local TASMAC shop. After having purchased 6 bottles, he returned home to his wife.

He kept 4 bottles to himself and provided Pazhanal with 2. Infuriated Pazhanal asked her fair share of three bottles each. Manikkam, who did not accept her request, began fighting.

Manikkam used a log of wood and attacked his wife, after which he banged her head against the wall. Heavily wounded Pazhanal died in her own pool of blood.

The police have arrested Manikkam who has now been charged with IPC section 302, for murder.
