In an amusing case, four COVID-19 patients from Tamil Nadu's Salem hospital placed an online order through an app for tandoori chicken and biryani, as they were bored of eating the normal diet and veg food in the hospital.

All four patients were admitted at the Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital and the incident took place on Tuesday. However, the delivery man was stopped and questioned near the door just before the agent was about to enter the COVID-19 ward.

As per hospital authorities, the patients are given a vegetarian diet and eggs to improve their immunity against the COVID-19 disease. Usually, non-veg is not advisable to patients as it creates gastric to them.

"They had ordered tandoori chicken and biryani through their mobile phone on an online food delivery platform. The matter came to light when the delivery person came to the hospital," R. Balajinathan, Dean, told IANS.

After the delivery man reached the Covid-19 ward, security personnel and doctors on duty did not allow him to enter. He was unaware that the location on the app was taking him to COVID-19 ward.

"The Covid-19 patients are given special diet, as prescribed by the government. It includes juice and fruits. Egg is the only non-vegetarian item that is served," Balajinathan further added.

After the delivery man was sent back, hospital authorities warned patients not do this again as strict action will be taken.
