7 days of Tamil Nadu Doctors Protest Comes to End; But Only a Temporary Solution
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsOn the 8th of Tamil Nadu Government doctors indefinite protest, a sudden change in the decision has been observed at the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital, Chennai. Following the statements issued by the Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy and health minister C Vijay Baskar, the doctors announced to suspend the protest but only on a temporary basis.
As per the Thanthi TV report, after the doctors protest intensified, the government had to issue transfer orders to a number of doctors besides suggesting to end the ongoing protest. Today (November 1), the doctors agreed to temporarily end the protest paying heed to the promise made by health minister Vijaya Baskar to fulfill their demands.
Reportedly, the doctors asked the government to withdraw the transfer action as they have decided to end the protest. Earlier, Edappadi Palaniswamy announced that the government would be looking for replacements if the doctors do not return back to work which was also affirmed by Vijaya Baskar in the press meet.
It is said that the doctors had to consider the increasing number of patients in the hospital and emergency cases as the primary factors to end the strike. While addressing the press, the head of the protest said that they have decided to end the ‘indefinite protest’ (including fasting) only on a temporary basis. Therefore, only future developments may have a long-standing solution for the 4 important demands of government doctors including their rise in salary.
