The new lockdown punishments for violators, Chennai police's creative step go viral!

Chennai Police who are on duty, especially the ones working in hotspots of north Chennai are taking efforts to ensure Lockdown guidelines are in place by giving unique punishments.  A group of violators were made to play the spoon glass game, while few violators were asked to take a pledge in front of a COVID-19 sculpture.  violators are walked along the bylanes as a part of the latest punishment. 

The Deputy commissioner of Police G Subbulakshmi  has gone viral over the past few weeks, especially among lockdown offenders and meme creators due to the unique punishments she has been giving. 

A group of violators were punished a week ago by making them ride along the figure 8. As per the report from Times of India (TOI), violators were asked to fill an empty glass with spoon on Friday. A bucket of water was placed 10 meters away from the glass. The offenders had to pick water with the spoon held in the mouth and fill it in the glass. 

“The officer was successful in handling in Washermenpet and Tondiarpet areas “, cited TOI in its report on the subject. 

She served in the Salem district as superintendent of police for two years before joining as DCP in Chennai City.
