Why Kamal Haasan is 'Unhappy' about Modi's 20 Lakh Crore Economic Package?
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsActor-turned-Politician Kamal Haasan on Sunday yet again slammed the Tamil Nadu government over reopening of TASMAC liquor shops.
"What direct benefits did Tamil Nadu get out of the 20-lakh crore Special Economic package announced by the central government?" Mr Haasan asked through a tweet.
He further went on to say that the Tamil Nadu government is reluctant about demanding its monetary share from the Centre.
After the Supreme Court stayed the Madras High Court’s order on closure of TASMAC shops, token-based sales of liquor began across the state from yesterday. These shops would function between 10 am and 5 pm and each shop can issue only 500 tokens per day.
However, owing to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, it was announced that TASMAC liquor shops in Chennai and Thiruvallur will remain closed. Also, those in Malls, Shopping Complexes and Containment Areas will not function.
