They were permitted to function after the Tamil Nadu Gym owners and Trainers Welfare association requested the CM to grant permission to reopen gyms.
According to the latest announcement, stand- alone gyms will be allowed to operate within the state. However, only people below the age of 50 will be allowed to go to gym and standard operating procedure will be issued separately. Gyms will be required to comply and follow the procedures.
The central government as well as various state governments had imposed a strict lockdown in view of the rampant spread of coronavirus. Gyms in the state of Tamil Nadu as well as across the country remained close due to the same reason. Towards the end of July, the central government permitted gyms to function as a part of Unlock 3.0.
