70,000 Students Not Eligible For Free Laptops By TN Government This Year!
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsAt least 70,000 students will not be eligible for free laptops in 2019 as the Tamil Nadu Government has decided not to distribute any laptop to those who have not cleared class 12 board examination.
This strict order has been issued by the state government on November 1.
As per Times of India (ToI) report, the Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examination states that nearly 1.2 lakh students have failed the class XII exams which is making the state government to come up with this order.
But, there is an exemption for students who have failed to clear their class 12 examination, but have enrolled themselves in polytechnic courses will get free laptops, the Times further reported.
Earlier this year in September, the Tamil Nadu government announced to give free laptops to over 2.4 lakh teachers from government and government-aided schools so that teachers can enable themselves to teach Classes 11 and 12 students better.
This scheme to distribute free laptops was launched in 2011 by M Karunanidhi.
