Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsSathankulam Custodial Deaths: Based on the analysis of the autopsy report, the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court observed on Tuesday that there were more injuries in the bodies of Jayaraj and Bennicks as opposed to reports filed by police. They noted that a case can be filed against the police officers in question. They also added that they do not want to waste even a minute in this case and delay the course of justice.
In a horrifying case of police brutality, a father and duo son from Tuticorin district allegedly died due to abuse in police custody.59-year-old P Jayaraj and 31-year- old son J Bennicks were picked up by the Santhankulam Police for questioning them citing that they kept their mobile accessories shop open during the lockdown on June 19.
Bennicks fell ill and died at the Kovilpatti General Hospital on June 22 and his father died on June 23.
