A Sanitary Worker at the Isolation ward in Madurai tests positive for COVID-19
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu news31 new coronavirus cases have been reported as of 8:00 am April 15, in Tamil Nadu. Of these 31 cases tested positive within the last 24 hours is a sanitary worker from Madurai.
A 36-year-old man who works as a sanitation worker in the isolation wards of Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai tested positive, on Tuesday. According to the health officials, he was employed at the “corona specialty hospital” from April 05. He was also an outsourced employee who was living in Mathichiyam. The sanitation worker’s family is now under critical examination and in isolation. Further, the hospital workers who he was in contact with are also being examined, fearing the spread of the infection.
Hospital officials clarified that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and masks were used by the sanitation workers in the isolation ward. The used PPE and masks were also disposed of safely. They commented, “It is an unfortunate situation.”
