VIDEO: Highly Venomous Snake 'Russell's Viper' Caught in Bathroom of a House; Snake delivers 35 Babies!
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsA highly venomous snake was found in the bathroom of a house in Coimbatore's Kovilmedu town on Friday. A resident of Kovimedu, Manoharan noticed the snake and sought the help of a snake-catcher identified as Murali.
The snake is a Russell's Viper (locally called 'Kannadi Viriyan), one of the most venomous snakes. The snake gave birth to 35 snakelets after being caught.
Murali, who caught the snake, put it in his gunny bag to release it into the forest. He kept the bag under a tree after realising that the snake was giving birth to snakelets.
After a few hours, Murali was shocked to see 35 snakelets moving around inside the bag. When the media contacted Murali, he said; the snake and its young ones would be released in the forest of Sathyamangalam in Erode district.
While other snakes lay eggs and hatch them, Russell's Viper are such species that give birth to young ones by hatching the eggs internally. Also, the baby snake shed their skin as soon as they are born. They are also highly venomous immediately after birth.
